Let's Talk Entertainment

Since this blog became a thing, I have been racking up my brain to determine what I am making this blog for. When I posted in the discussion about the demographics for Netflix, I felt skeptical about who is the most common one for watching content on the site. Let alone any streaming service that has hit the mainstream. The article that I found was a thought-provoking, yet controversial one regarding the "quintessential" user of the stream. I didn't agree with her findings, but I figured why this would be a call-to-action for the direction that I want to go into

One of my peers suggested that I would familiarize myself with what type of content is building interest from females that don't have degrees or a strong income. Normally, I would just randomly scroll down options such as movies and shows to see anything that could be compelling. It would take some time. Up to several minutes to see if there was something that I can watch before bed. There would just be a few things that be interested in. Most of which include sports content, sci-fi shows, superhero shows, and other shows/movies from yester-year.

Don't forget Squid Game.

As for the other content, it's less interesting.

Most of which are chick flicks, documentaries that are Tiger King knockoffs, mediocre-at-best content featuring noteworthy names, and others that feature Z-listers. I have a feeling this is the fuel that inspires the service's core audience.

This has given me a chance to understand what Canales (2021) talked about. It is influencing my vision for what my target audience should be.

And the Audience Is...

Sure, streaming services have developed quite a following from the Gen Z population, but I'm going to set my goal in the clearest of mindsets.

Although politics will not be an issue at all, I'm hoping to reach out to an audience with a conservative political stance. This is to look for a group that would have a picky perception. The age group should be listed in between the ages of 20-60. Practically, it's for anyone that is listed in the now era. Rather than the "yesterday" or "tomorrow" eras. The level of education shouldn't matter. But I prefer to reach out to those that have interests in sports content, social media marketing, sci-fi, music (Thanks to my growing playlists), comedy, action, memes, and quirky ideas.

How Will This Work?

I'm going to start off by reaching out to family and friends. Eventually, I'm going to cater it to more people as long as I get more comfortable with where I want to take this blog. It will grow to greater audiences that is starving for new visions to come into the picture. It's basically a procedure to take baby steps before it is ready to take off. I'll experiment with Twitter marketing, promoting via Instagram and Facebook, Snapchat marketing, and entering keywords on SEO to see what my target audience wants to see.
